VI·ZA SET TO RELEASE NEW MATERIAL

Los Angeles, CA – VI·ZA is excited to announce the release of several new songs in 2017. The tracks will be unveiled once per month, beginning August 1, followed by releases on the first every month moving forward. With a return to the stage in 2017 after a brief hiatus in 2016, the band is inspired to create, and has concentrated on composing new material for the past several months.

“It’s been a long time coming and we are ready to release our next chapter of music or in this case our 8th studio effort.” said K’noup. “After the amazing success we had reaching fans with our kickstarter campaign a few years ago, we wanted to reintroduce that dynamic for all those fans asking how they can support us by releasing an online tip jar that will give fans a chance to demonstrate their passion for our music.”

The songwriting effort of the group has already resulted in near complete process of recording and mixing 6 exciting and groundbreaking tracks, with plans underway for even more new material to continue moving forward.

“We have had a blast reconnecting with fans and feeling the energy of the stage again, and that’s directly fed into our passion in focusing on recording and releasing these new songs,” said Kzirian. “Our artistic direction has grown and evolved and incorporated so many different colors – and this steady flow of upcoming music will give fans a tantalizing taste of VI·ZA’s journey,” said Kzirian.

The band has been recording with talented recording engineer Yury Anisonyan out of Live Wire Studios in Los Angeles. Anisonyan brings his expertise and unique mixing philosophy to VI·ZA’s sound, creating a unique tapestry of soundscapes.

“It’s a breath of fresh air working with such a bunch of gifted and creative musicians. Not only are they seasoned and experienced at their craft, but they are also some of the nicest guys to work with and really know how to construct a beautiful song,” said Anisonyan. “The creative process in the studio is by far one of my best experiences to date,” he added.

Each new song will be released on VI·ZA’s dedicated YouTube channel.

VI·ZA’s new material is an exploration of sounds both old and new, and is sure to pique the interest of both diehard fans and new listeners. With vocals and a diverse array of instruments like the oud and duduk to combine with guitar, bass and drums, there are some exciting possibilities when it comes to both the core and potential artistic horizon of the band’s sound. Song titles include “Cash Karma”, “Viktorious”, “A World of Broken Mirrors”, “Aphrodite”, “Velvet Shade” and “Vicious Game”, representing diverse but resonant themes ranging from satire, continuity and social commentary to raw human emotions like love, loss and passion. Whether it’s VI·ZA’s bread and butter energetic style of pulsing percussion with exotic melodies or experimental ideas exploring the spiritual side of their art, the guys promise to keep things interesting with fans coming back for more, especially when it comes to documenting their work in the studio.

Silence the Lies! Rock the Truth! IX Concert

Los Angeles, CA – As the Armenian Diaspora and human rights activists from around the world prepare for the 102nd Anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, Angelenos will join community artists to raise awareness of genocide prevention and education through the 9th annual Silence the Lies, Rock the Truth concert. The concert combines forces with the “Genocide 101” Educational Charitable event that took place last year.

“We find special meaning in working with the community to bring an artistic component to remembrance,” Kzirian added. Kzirian has served as Chairman of the AYF Central Executive in the Eastern United States and Executive Director and Chairman of the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region.

Silence the Lies, Rock the Truth! is a social justice concert dedicated to raising awareness of the Armenian Genocide.  For the past several years, socially conscious artists in the Los Angeles area have come together to work with the community through music, activism and commemoration. VI·ZA, The Dirty Diamond, Killikiah and Ayline will take the stage on April 23, 2017 at the Roxy Theatre as the arts will inspire the need for recognition and contrition through a uniquely powerful performance that will indeed Silence the Lies and Rock the Truth.

“As youth of the Armenian Diaspora, we are constantly engaging in meaningful ways to fight for human rights while maintaining ties to our homeland,” said AYF Youth Corps Representative Nazeli Khodabakhsh. “Silence the Lies, Rock the Truth is an opportunity for us commemorate through artistic expression, and helps provide the means for us to continue to play a role in the future of Armenia, through programs like AYF Youth Corps,” she added.

Various community organizations, including the Armenian Youth Federation – Western Region, Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region, and UCLA Alpha Gamma Alpha are teaming up with these artists to make for a high impact show.

“We’ve been organizing this concert for many years, and with each show we grow firmer in our resolve to stand up for what is right,” added K’noup Tomopoulos, singer of the band VI·ZA.

This year, proceeds from the concert will be donated to two needy organizational projects. The Armenian Youth Federation’s Youth Corps 6-week program provides a memorable and productive opportunity for youth to establish and strengthen ties with the homeland, consisting of 4 weeks of volunteer work and 2 weeks of touring. Beginning in 1994, volunteers first came to NKR to help rebuild war-torn villages after the cease-fire. In 2008, the AYF opened a summer camp in Gyumri, Armenia’s second largest city, and continued to empower Diaspora Armenians with more direct roles in nation-building. This is a chance for some to make a direct impact on the lives of Gyumri’s most impoverished children and families. More information is available at http://www.ayfyouthcorps.org/program.

The Orran Charity provides vital support and assistance to needy Armenian children in Yerevan. Established in 2000, Orran which means “haven” in Armenian, works to decrease the disparity between the needs of at-risk groups and the availability of essential services. Orran provides food services, academic assistance, cultural enrichment opportunities and medical, psychological and social services for vulnerable communities in central Yerevan. More information is available at http://www.orran.am/.

The artists and organizations involved with this special concert would like to encourage everyone in the community to participate in an event that will provide incredible talent and entertainment, but will also benefit those in need.
